International Rabbit Day – 26th September 2016
This special day promotes the protection and care of rabbits both domestic and wild. Rabbits should definitely be celebrated on this day, as rabbits go through horrific times at factory farms for their lovely and soft fur. They are killed for the sake of “fashion”.
Did you know?
- When rabbits are happy, they jump and twist (this is called a “binky”)
Rabbits are very expressive as well as sensitive animals, and are capable of a variety of quirky and endearing behaviours (Choosecrueltyfree.org 2016). So let’s celebrate International Rabbit Day so we all get to see rabbits jump and twist!
World Animal Day – 4th September 2016
This day is celebrated to help raise the status of animals to improve welfare standards across the world. It bonds the animal welfare movement making it an unstoppable global force to increase awareness and education, to make the world a much friendlier place for all animals to live in (Worldanimalday.org 2016). It is celebrated regardless of religion, faith, nationality or political ideology.
Do you want the world to be a more compassionate place for animals? This day is your time to make a difference! Raise awareness and help celebrate this day by:
- Fundraise for a local animal welfare organization
- Help at an animal welfare charity
- Organize an event, such as a BBQ
